A Genuine Medieval Feast

Beer             Wine             Meade

Our feast consists of four hearty courses, and world-class ale is included in the ticket price. The food is all eaten by hand, as it was back in 1416. We do all we can to prepare the food in medieval fashion.

Nuts and Gluten. There are no nuts in the sauces or in our food, and if you require a vegetarian alternative please call us and let us know you need veggie fare. To be gluten free, avoid the starch and the pear sauce with dinner.

Salt. Salt was a preservative in the Middle Ages, not generally used as a condiment. True to the period, our foods are close to salt free. If you wish salt, you must ask for it from the Most High Keeper of the Salt at your table.

Fat. Medieval people had many uses for fat, so it generally was not recycled in the form of gravy. True to tradition, we drain all the fats away. Thus, for your meats we offer sauces from this period, a honey-mustard and cinnamon pear sauce. The pear sauce is an 800 year old recipe, and we do make it fresh each day just for you to put on your meats.

Sample Feast:

While our menu does change regularly, here is a sample of a Medieval Madness feast:

Course One:

Fresh baked bread or rolls (rolls are a mixture of white, wheat or cheese), berries, butter and jam

Course Two:

Slow roasted beef carved table side, savory roasted sausage, and cinnamon roasted carrots

Course Three:

Fresh-roasted rosemary fowl with yam puffs

Course Four:

Pound cake (or apple turn-overs or crumb cake)

The Friar's Pub:

Throughout Medieval Madness, and after the show, the Friar's Pub is open.  Featuring an extensive mixed drink menu, as well as soft drinks, The Friar's Pub will make your favorite libation your way.  However, we also feature historic beers from the period, wine made from the same grapes once enjoyed by the Crusaders, Meade (Medieval Honey Wine), and a host of other drinks for you to explore.   You might discover a new favorite from another era!  Cinnamon pear sauce is now available for purchase at the Friar's Pub! It is $4 for a 12oz container. Cash and major credit cards are accepted.
